The recognition of individuals, especially of pedestrians, is one of the core competences of FusionSystems. Apart from multi-sensor systems for the recognition and the exact localisation of people (e.g. with FIR camera and LIDAR), the recognition of pedestrians only on the basis of a video image is an important field of our work.
The recognition software of FusionSystems performs a high recognition rate by using a sophisticated multi-feature processing while keeping the false alarm rate very low. The consistent usage of tracking methods ensures the necessary stability of the recognition in urban environments even with rigorous changes in the movement state of the ego vehicle.
